Description Curtis Magyar 2003-04-23 06:20:34 UTC
I think it would be great if having alsa in the USE flags would cause "Run
Volume Control" from the volume control applet to run gnome-alsamixer instead of
gnome-volume-control which requrires the snd-mixer-oss kernel module to be
installed, and limits the functionality of alsa.

gnome-alsamixer should also be dependancy of gnome when alsa is requested.

hmm nah, you just need alsa-oss emulation afaik. I'm convinced it's up to gnome to force that dep, after all esd is still the gnome supported sound daemon (and we do support that by default).

Besides all that the applet is directly linked to the gnome-volume-control app, so we can't nicely get it to use gnome-alsamixer instead. Plus what happens if ppl have both esd and alsa in their USE (?)

I apologise for this bugspam, but I wish to close this product, so I need to
move all the bugs.
