Description Maurice Volaski 2007-11-04 23:15:05 UTC
mail-mta/esmtp-0.5.0-r2 cannot be installed because net-mail/mailwrapper-0.2.1-r1 is masked. The reason given is

# Fernando J. Pereda <ferdy@gentoo.org> (25 April 2005)
# mask these until the new mailwrapper/mailer-config scheme is ready
# it is secure to unmask them to test

Does that date seriously mean it's not ready after 2.5 years?

I did unmask this and was able to install the current 0.6.0 of estmp and it seems to be working fine.

mailwrapper-0.2.1 is not masked in any way; nor is esmtp-0.5.0-r1; please don't file bugs about masked ebuilds depending on masked ebuilds.

I'm referring to mailwrapper-0.2.1-r1 and esmtp-0.5.0-r2, both of which are masked.

I don't understand your comment either. What are we supposed to do then?

Unmask both ebuilds or unmask none.
Comment 4 Maurice Volaski 2007-11-04 23:49:41 UTC
Why are they being masked and how do we get feedback to get that resolved for Gentoo if you are just summarily closing these reports?
Comment 5 Jakub Moc (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-11-04 23:52:47 UTC
They might never get unmasked; anyway - move this debate to the relevant please.
