Description witr 2007-11-04 19:32:26 UTC
As noted in this forum post: http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-399310, apache depends on sysvipc, else it craps out with:

[crit] (38)Function not implemented: mod_rewrite: could not create rewrite_log_lock
Configuration Failed

Most ebuilds that have kernel config dependencies seem to make the necessary checks.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. build a kernel without sysvipc
2. emerge apache 2
3. start apache 2

Actual Results:
[crit] (38)Function not implemented: mod_rewrite: could not create rewrite_log_lock
Configuration Failed

Expected Results:
Apache should start out of the box.

Nope; we are not going to make apache depend on kernel sources.
Comment 2 witr 2007-11-05 04:44:22 UTC
OK. Would you at least consider putting a line of text in the postinsall telling the installer the be sure this is configured?
Comment 3 Benedikt Böhm (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-11-05 11:43:25 UTC
honestly, if you don't compile sysvipc into you're kernel, you're pretty much on your own... but i will add a message to the next ebuild revision ...
Comment 4 Benedikt Böhm (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-11-29 18:48:12 UTC
fixed in 2.2.6-r4 (still masked though)
