Description Alexander Leonov 2007-11-03 19:44:36 UTC
I have
dev-libs/openssl-0.9.7j
I want upgrade it to dev-libs/openssl-0.9.8g.
First i did "emerge --sync" and then "emerge openssl" but i got error:

make: *** [install_sw] Error 1

 *               ebuild.sh, line   44:  Called src_install

 *  The die message:

something in your environment is screwing it up. the list of things that are causing a failure look like your $USE flag from make.conf.

post the output of `emerge -v --info` as an attachment as well as doing:
MAKEOPTS=-d emerge openssl >& log

Added http link to zip file with emerge log.

(1) dont use zip, this is open source and zip sucks
(2) dont post external URLs, attach them to the bug

OK finally i found a way to post it ;) Sorry its my first "bugreport".
Comment 10 SpanKY gentoo-dev 2007-11-12 07:35:43 UTC
i have no idea why you set $APPS to your $USE, but that's clearly wrong
Comment 11 SpanKY gentoo-dev 2007-11-12 07:36:37 UTC
APPS is now ignored from the environment
Comment 12 Alexander Leonov 2007-11-12 10:59:44 UTC

> APPS is now ignored from the environment

I just have this in my make.conf:

#!make.conf

APPS="-gpm -X -gtk -gnome -kde -qt -alsa -oss bzip2 curl logrotate 7zip samba bash-completion threads -cups acl quotas apache2 gd mysql xml zip snmp lm_sensors vhosts jpeg png imagemagick ffmpeg unzip courier examples apache2 nat"
NET="-ipv6 iproute2 extensions l7filter h323 async threads"
SSL="ssl crypt"
CPU="sse mmx sse2"
USE="$APPS $NET $SSL $CPU"

So is it wrong? Or i must just use something else then "APPS" as the variable name?
