Description MAL 2003-04-22 11:24:32 UTC
I just booted the 1.4_rc4 LiveCD on an Intel based single board computer, and
when it gets to the hardware detection phase, the kernel oopses (in process
hwsetup), and this causes hwsetup to segfault.
I guess runscript.sh re-runs hwsetup as the detection continues, until the
"Welcome to..." text and the prompt appears.. where the hardware detection
'spinner' keeps going!

You can still type, and killall hwsetup does the trick. Maybe adding killall
hwdetect to the end of the init scripts is a good idea?

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Boot the 1,4_rc4 LiveCD on this hardware
2. Wait
Actual Results:
Spinner continues even after the prompt appears.

Expected Results:
Stopped spinning :)

It's a Nexcom Peak 710VL, Intel 845 chipset:

Adding killall might not be a bad idea, The problem your talking
about is not common, but not the first report either.

thanks
