Description Maciej Mrozowski gentoo-dev 2007-11-01 01:24:04 UTC
(I dont't know, it should rather go upstream I guess...)

I cannot log in to web mail interface poczta.wp.pl using stable konqueror-3.5.7-r3 (firefox-2.0.0.8 works) - just some loading happens and then the same login page

No matter I use ssl connection or standard http connection (checkbox 'login safely')

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open konqueror and type URL http://poczta.wp.pl (mail web interface)
2. Enter login, valid password (or use kdewallet to do it)
3. Select checkbox 'login safely' ('zaloguj bezpiecznie' in Polish) and press login ('zaloguj')
Actual Results:
Nothing happens
Using secure connection (https) gives folowing error on console:

22923:error:0B07C065:lib(11):func(124):reason(101):x509_lu.c:348:

22923 is current kdeinit (kio_https) PID, 0B07C065 - I don't know what is this but it's always the same in my log, like the location of this error - line 348 in file x509_lu.c

Expected Results:
When giving valid login/password combination - web mail interface is opened

Cookies are enabled, and SSLv2 cerificates in konqueror are anabled also

With Mozilla Firefox (current 2.0.0.8) I cannot reproduce the problem so it looks like konqueror (kdelibs) or possibly openssl problem

It's NOT related to http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=128922 (legacyssl flag) as I tested kdelibs with legacyssl and I can't reproduce.

The problem also exists when using previous stable (for amd64) openssl =sys-libs/openssl-0.9.8e-r3

Please re-emerge kdelibs with sane C(XX)FLAGS: -march=nocona -O2 -pipe
Comment 2 Maciej Mrozowski gentoo-dev 2007-11-03 01:45:21 UTC
(In reply to comment #1)
> Please re-emerge kdelibs with sane C(XX)FLAGS: -march=nocona -O2 -pipe

no luck
I recompiled openssl and kdelibs with "-march=nocona -O2 -pipe" only and later even tweaked openssl ebuild to disable SSE at all - still same error

I found http://www.mail-archive.com/debian-kde%40lists.debian.org/msg26854.html to be a bit similar to my problem, but the solution given here: http://www.mail-archive.com/debian-kde%40lists.debian.org/msg26885.html
and here:
http://www.mail-archive.com/debian-kde%40lists.debian.org/msg26875.html

does not work for me
I will try with some KDE based livecd though
Comment 3 Wulf Krueger (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-11-03 16:25:44 UTC
Please try kdelibs-3.5.8-r1 which I've just committed. Yes, I know you're running a stable system but in the case of packages in kde-base the newer ones are usually at least as stable (even when marked unstable/testing) as the stable ones. :-)
Comment 4 Maciej Mrozowski gentoo-dev 2007-11-04 23:31:23 UTC
Well if you were just to encourage me to the newest version don't be so shy :) I've got few packages already keyworded you know :) (like k3b, kdesvn, kdevelop) and they're running just fine as the whole kde-base shurely would (kde just has a bit unstable nature no mather the package status - like it's crashing more ofter on 'stable' Debian that on keyworded Gentoo - good job here)

Anyway - unfortunately still the same error with kde-base/kdelibs-3.5.8-r1

I'll try with some different (older) version (livecd, different distro)
Comment 5 Maciej Mrozowski gentoo-dev 2007-11-05 22:10:29 UTC
I can't reproduce this error on kubuntu 6.06 LTS amd64 (kde 3.5.2) nor on debian lenny x86 (kde 3.5.7) so...

Anyway It doesn't work on my gentoo on kde4 beta4 (from svn)
Comment 6 Maciej Mrozowski gentoo-dev 2007-11-13 01:22:19 UTC
Looks like 'some' specific issue with *my* setup as I can reproduce it only with kde (3,5,7, 3.5.8, 4.0beta4) built on my gentoo.
Summary:
- it's rather not issue with openssl CFLAGS flags as I tested with minimal ones
- it's rather not upstream kdelibs issue as kdelibs 3.5.7, 3.5.8, 4.0beta4 does not 'work' here (maybe I should try compiling some old kdelibs for testing purpose)

you can mark it WORKSFORME if you like anyway :)
Comment 7 Maciej Mrozowski gentoo-dev 2007-11-23 22:28:20 UTC
update
can't log on to my web mail also on Debian amd64 testing (kdelibs4c2a 4:3.5.8.dfsg.1-3) so maybe it's some upstream issue
Comment 8 Wulf Krueger (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-12-17 22:51:22 UTC
Have you tried re-emerging dev-libs/openssl?
Comment 9 Maciej Mrozowski gentoo-dev 2007-12-18 22:39:03 UTC
(In reply to comment #8)
> Have you tried re-emerging dev-libs/openssl?

of course, see my comment #2
now I've got openssl-0.9.8g and I have the same problem all the time (on different machines) - in general kde >= 3.5.7 (maybe 3.5.6 also) cannot handle poczta.wp.pl anymore. And it looks really not related to openssl at all as disabling secure connection on this page desn't help neither. I remeber using kmail to my mail from corresponding pop3 over ssl and never had any problems - only the problem with khtml. Oh well, "fish protocol dies unexpectedly" on my 3.5.8 desktop and it is openssl related indeed but I believe broken fish support is already reported on bugs.kde.org as well as numerous khtml failures... Let's not spam their bugzilla with already known problems...
Comment 10 Anton Bolshakov 2008-02-11 08:58:00 UTC
I can't reproduce with current stable versions.
I can submit invalid/username password over ssl without any errors and get redirected to login page again.
Is it necessary to have a valid username/password?

the problem is that passing valid login/password no mather the ssl enabled or not is resulting being redirected to the same login page (with no error message at all - like 'invalid login' or 'you have to enable cookies' etc..)

Changing browser identification doesn't help either. It's well known that some web pages/portals/banking services used to limit web functionality for detected 'non-popular' browsers but it's not the case here.

I'm afraid you would have to pass valid login/password to be able to say you can reproduce (or not) described problem anyway. With valid l/p I can reproduce this problem 100/100 with my stable kde-3.5.8 (from portage) setup as well as with kde4 (from svn).
Comment 12 Anton Bolshakov 2008-02-14 04:58:42 UTC
(In reply to comment #11)
> I'm afraid you would have to pass valid login/password to be able to say

Could you help to register a test account then? It's in Polish and I can't really understand how to do it.
Alternately, you can install webscarab (or any other) web proxy and record first few steps (with full html request/response pages) of login process.
Comment 13 Maciej Mrozowski gentoo-dev 2008-02-14 19:40:34 UTC
I've registered new account (it's free).
The link http://profil.wp.pl or http://poczta.wp.pl (will be redirected)

login: khtmltest
password: khtmltest1

there may be some checkboxes below:
[] zaloguj bezpiecznie (use secure login - via https)
[] Stara Poczta WP (use old mail web interface - probably more compatible)

link: 'opcje zaawansowane' - (advanced options), when activated, few more checkboxes may appear:
[] Zapamiętaj mój login (save my login - using cookies)
[] Logowanie do mini-poczty (log to mini-mail - tiny web client I guess - I never used it, maybe it's provided for WAP browsers or just mobile browsers with smaller display, hard to say)

If some of them are not available (they shouldn't be necessary anyway), changing browser identification will help (for IE some options are not shown anyway as IE is considered more compatible with this page I guess)

button:
[Zaloguj] (login)

Some other keywords :)
wyloguj - log off
hasło - password

This should be enough to get logged there. If you have a skype I can provide some help in case of problems (skype username: reavertm)
Comment 14 Anton Bolshakov 2008-02-14 20:15:46 UTC
I've managed to login without any problem.
Please double check that you allowed all cookies for this domain. Go to:
Settings->Configure->Cookies->Policy->SitePolicy
type "wp.pl" in the search input field and make sure that you have 'allow' policy for all profil.wp.pl, poczta.wp.pl, etc URL.
Also, make sure that the default policy is either "Accept" or "Ask".
Comment 15 Maciej Mrozowski gentoo-dev 2008-02-14 21:35:03 UTC
Double checked again - all cookies are enabled. Just for record

[ebuild R ] dev-libs/openssl-0.9.8g USE="bindist (sse2) test zlib -emacs -gmp -kerberos" 0 kB
[ebuild R ] kde-base/kdelibs-3.5.8-r3 USE="alsa branding cups kdeenablefinal kdehiddenvisibility openexr spell tiff utempter -acl -arts -avahi -bindist -debug -doc -fam -jpeg2k -kerberos -legacyssl -lua -xinerama" 0 kB
[ebuild R ] kde-base/konqueror-3.5.8 USE="branding kdeenablefinal kdehiddenvisibility -arts -debug -java -xinerama" 0 kB

I've got a bit different combination of USE flags - like I've got bindist enabled for openssl and branding for konqueror (but that changes only browser identification to Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; Konqueror/3.5; Linux 2.6.23-gentoo-r8; X11; x86_64; en_US) KHTML/3.5.8 (like Gecko) (Gentoo))

And I've got amd64 box, besides that my current emerge --info i pretty similar, so - too aggressive CFLAGS ?? I've already eliminated aggresiveness of CFLAGS eliminating openssl from that equation in #2 ...

Ok, I managed to reproduce after I denied, deleted and allowed all cookies again.
After this magic manipulation I couldn't not login.
So I strongly believe this is a cookie problem because the application written like crap.

Try following:
1. Delete all cookie policy
2. Delete all cookies itself (via management)
3. Go to https://profil.wp.pl/login.html
4. Accept all cookies for entire domain
5. Try to login via ssl.
6. Continue accepting all cookies (you'll have to accept 4-6 times).

Yes, it's working that way, I was able to log-on.
I remember I already tried this but removed just cookie policies and existing cookies for *.wp.pl, not all cookies. And then I was redirected to profile page (those page with personal information like name, surname, address etc) but clicking at 'my mail' on the left link still resulted redirecting me to login page.
This time I entered my password on this profile page in input box at the bittom of the page (just belowe wp.pl rules agreement etc) and after that clicking 'my mail' resolved this issue (also with konqueror from kde4 svn/trunk)

Odd... I guess it's resolved (or maybe konqueror devs could be interested in this issue anyway - apart from khtml problems - since WebKit is not yet incorporated - cookie management seem to be problem a sometimes)

I can't login anymore - try for yourself anyway (looks like it's working for me only just after cleaning all cookies and/or cookie policies).
What's interesting, konqueror from kde4 svn after entering https://profil.wp.pl/login.html shows shows information that cookies have to enabled to be able to log-in (konqueror 3 shows no such info but just redirects silently to login page). And guess what - all cookies are enabled and allowed in both browsers.

Ok, the problem is with profil.wp.pl cookies (not .profil.wp.pl).
You have to delete it in order to reproduce.
The attempt to login using poczta.wp.pl url it does not generate that cookie correctly. I'll trace it then I have more time.

You may be right here with this invalid cookie. What's strange - it started to work. Using https://profil.wp.pl/login.html allows me to log-on and it redirects me properly to my profile page (this worked all the time). And then link 'Twoja poczta' ('Your mail') works, but an attempt to open an inbox results redirecting to login page again (cookie from poczta.wp.pl?). And there I've given my login/password - and it looks like it's working (Logging-in even using poczta.wp.pl URL - probably because required cookies are already planted). This time I could not verify konqueror 4 as its khtml kpart started to segfault on https://profil.wp.pl/login.html ... :)

Please file an upstream bug for this, add a link to it here and re-open this bug when there's any progress that would allow us to fix this bug in Gentoo (e. g. a patch).
