Description Michael Laß 2007-10-29 17:44:18 UTC
There's a missing library:

ldd /usr/lib/openoffice/program/python.bin shows:
libpython2.3.so.1.0 => not found

I don't know, if this causes any problems.

There is a libpython2.3.so.1.0 in /usr/lib/openoffice/program/, but this directory is not part of LDPATH. If you add it to LDPATH, many programs link to wrong libraries.

Does openoffice require python 2.3?

A temporary fix:
ln -s /usr/lib/openoffice/program/libpython2.3.so.1.0 /usr/lib

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. install app-office/openoffice-bin-2.3.0
2. ldd /usr/lib/openoffice/program/python.bin
Actual Results:
        linux-gate.so.1 =>  (0xffffe000)
        libpython2.3.so.1.0 => not found
        libpthread.so.0 => /lib/libpthread.so.0 (0x42cc1000)
        libdl.so.2 => /lib/libdl.so.2 (0x42cbb000)
        libutil.so.1 => /lib/libutil.so.1 (0x43b56000)
        libstdc++.so.6 => /usr/lib/gcc/i686-pc-linux-gnu/4.2.2/libstdc++.so.6 (0x4398f000)
        libm.so.6 => /lib/libm.so.6 (0x42c95000)
        libgcc_s.so.1 => /usr/lib/gcc/i686-pc-linux-gnu/4.2.2/libgcc_s.so.1 (0x43ac5000)
        libc.so.6 => /lib/libc.so.6 (0x42b64000)
        /lib/ld-linux.so.2 (0x42135000)

Expected Results:
something like this:

        linux-gate.so.1 =>  (0xffffe000)
        libpython2.3.so.1.0 => /usr/lib/libpython2.3.so.1.0 (0x4b27c000)
        libpthread.so.0 => /lib/libpthread.so.0 (0x42cc1000)
        libdl.so.2 => /lib/libdl.so.2 (0x42cbb000)
        libutil.so.1 => /lib/libutil.so.1 (0x43b56000)
        libstdc++.so.6 => /usr/lib/gcc/i686-pc-linux-gnu/4.2.2/libstdc++.so.6 (0x4398f000)
        libm.so.6 => /lib/libm.so.6 (0x42c95000)
        libgcc_s.so.1 => /usr/lib/gcc/i686-pc-linux-gnu/4.2.2/libgcc_s.so.1 (0x43ac5000)
        libc.so.6 => /lib/libc.so.6 (0x42b64000)
        /lib/ld-linux.so.2 (0x42135000)

Comment 1 Thomas S. Howard 2007-12-14 18:53:10 UTC
That's normal. All the OO executables are wrapped by shell scripts which set up various env variables, including LD_LIBRARY_PATH. When python.bin is actually running, it sees the library just fine.

Thanks for the answer. I think I can close the bug.
