Description Todor Zviskov 2003-04-21 15:29:59 UTC
Grub 0.92-r1 installs on mbr or boot partition without errors. On system reboot
grub hangs after the message: "GRUB loading, please wait...". It doesn't return
any error, just stays there. Re-merging and reinstalling grub doesn't help.
However, using a boot floppy with the same version of grub and same grub.conf
works fine. After unmerging, merging grub-0.93.20030118, and setting up grub on
the mbr the system boots up from the harddrive.
System Info: Athlon 1.33GHz, Soyo K7VTA-PRO motherboard, 60GB Quantum Fireball
hdd (root=/dev/hda1 15GB, primary partition, bootable), 640MB ram.

P.S. This was generated during clean install.

I see this same behavior - also on a QUANTUM Fireball drive, but this one
is only a 3216 MB drive on a pentium MMX 200. Merging grub-0.93.20030118
solved the problem as well.

Looks like the current stable grub works fine so I'll wager that the older grub had an issue with writing to the MBR of certain drives. Closing this bug, reopen if there is still an issue, thanks.
