Description Rick Harris 2007-10-24 12:09:18 UTC
Currently the default is for a multilib profile.

If the user does not enable IA32 Emulation support in their kernel under
Executable file formats / Emulations --->
then any 32-bit executions or compiles will fail.

Packages that will fail to compile include gcc, glibc and sandbox with very little meaning in the error message to indicate what the problem is.

Reproducible: Always

People should read the FAQ we provide. We can't include everything from it in the handbook.
Comment 3 Xavier Neys (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-10-24 12:40:52 UTC
Should be mentioned under
<title>Activating Required Options</title>
Comment 4 Rick Harris 2007-10-24 19:43:24 UTC
Can we also have a link to the FAQ in the handbook, thanks :)
Comment 5 nm (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-11-02 23:09:11 UTC
Fixed in CVS, and no, the FAQ should not be linked in the handbook. We don't link other documents from within the flow of the handbook, because the handbook should only contain the essentials for installation.

*Other material* is in *other docs* for that very reason.
