The first annoyance is that there is NO ChangeLog in media-sound/rhythmbox.

Rhythmbox itself can't be build as there is no monkey-media ebuild, which
rhythmbox depends on. There is a monkey-sound ebuild, but I'm not sure that this
is the same. Also the rhythmbox ebuild depends on gst-plugins-0.4.2, but
available in portage are only gst-plugins-0.5.2, -0.6.0-r4 and 0.6.1.

I removed rhythmbox from portage, we can't support it in its current state (never could really). You bumped into some unfortunate leftovers, my mistake. Removed now as well.
