as you can see here: http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=320206#c85 the 2.18.x releas of eog is buggy and there is no proper fix. Therefore I think it should be masked in portage and by no means be listed as stable on alpha, amd64, arm, hppa, ia64, ppc, ppc64, sparc and x86. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. open image in full screen mode (by hitting F11) 2. browse through several images using the arrow keys 3. keep browsing until it locks up or (from the linked GNOME bug report) 1. Start a slide show in a image collection 2. Cancel it exactly at image switch time The first set of "Steps to Reproduce" is how I do it. There exists a corresponding bug report on GNOMEs bugzilla but it was marked as duplicate of the one I linked to this bug report. Therefore the second set of steps should provoke the same bug.
I can get it crash even when not fulscreen, just sliding. Sometimes, it just crashes by itself when I am not doing anything with it (for example, I show a pic in window mode, and just look at it for 5mn, and at some time, it fades away). I get this with media-gfx/eog-2.20.2 . Also see my other bug #201543 . Happens less often with flags "-dbus -python" but still happen :)
eog-2.20.4 works for me (see bug 201543 that I just closed and check my flags). Maintainers: please close this bug when 2.20.4 get's stable if Craven does not confirm he can reproduce in the mean time.
