Nell'introduzione a Gentoo nel manuale d'installazione si usa
«pseudodistribuzione» come traduzione di «metadistribution». La traduzione è inesatta in quanto il prefisso «pseudo» indica:

1 che possiede solo in apparenza determinate caratteristiche, falso: pseudocultura, pseudointellettuale ( http://www.demauroparavia.it/88415 )

mentre con il prefisso «meta» s'intende:

1a è presente in parole di origine greca e in termini di ambito tecnico–specialistico di formazione moderna, premesso produttivamente a confissi, sostantivi, aggettivi, con i valori di modifica, trasformazione, alterazione

In tal senso Gentoo è appunto definita una "metadistribuzione" per indicarne la configurabilità e l'elasticità.

Più semplicemente, tradurre "metadistribution" in "pseudodistribuzione" non è  né corretto né coerente con il significato dei prefissi.

Ops, I'm sorry. :/

I was in doubt with the language to use, but I thought "Italian translations --> I'll use Italian". I was wrong :P
