Hi, a new release of pine appeared, and I was hoping I could use it under gentoo, but please, include maildir support. Thank you.

This release introduces some new functionality and addresses bugs found in earlier versions. Perhaps the most notable changes are improved POP3 performance and an experimental "Mail Drop" setup that can make POP3 access behave more like some POP3 users expect it to behave. To learn about "Mail Drops", start Pine, view the Release notes (command "R" from the Main Menu), and view the "Mail Drop" link. Specific information about changes can always be found in the built-in release notes ("R" off the Main Menu), or via any of: http://www.washington.edu/pine/ http://www.washington.edu/pine/changes.html ftp://ftp.cac.washington.edu/pine/docs/ UNIX source code for the latest Pine release is available at: http://www.washington.edu/pine/getpine/ or ftp://ftp.cac.washington.edu/pine/pine.tar.Z (MD5: 1fb0b1a264300373e5c7181c36affc96) ftp://ftp.cac.washington.edu/pine/pine.tar.bz2 (MD5: 937a958be18b40543902f4c53ae5466f) ftp://ftp.cac.washington.edu/pine/pine.tar.gz (MD5: 730e69981d2034d9e031ac665b20f6eb) Pre-built binaries are available for a small number of UNIX operating environments for citizens of the U.S. or Canada via: http://www.washington.edu/pine/getpine/ Instructions for building UNIX Pine are in the README file in the top-level directory of the tar file. The PC-Pine distribution is also available at the above url, or at: ftp://ftp.cac.washington.edu/pine/pcpine/setup_pine_4.55.exe (MD5: 060bf661abe08dc2bc0222357c42bf35) Alternatively, the zip file (like we've distributed in the past) is also available at: ftp://ftp.cac.washington.edu/pine/pcpine/pm455w42.zip (MD5: 4d2e982cb6c91cf4c529d2d854cc34b4) As with all Pine releases, it is important that you carefully test and determine for yourself that it performs suitably in your environment before placing Pine into production use. 4.50 was the last with maildir support find a patch for 4.53 and/or 4.55 and we will include
http://hico.fphil.uniba.sk/pine_patches/pine-4.50-maildir.patch It seems to apply almost fine to pine-4.53, with all the gentoo patches already applied. (it fails on the pine version string and in a Makefile, but that seems trivial). On a clean pine-4.55, there's only the version string reject.
pine-maildir-4.53 has been in portage for quite a while now... Today I added pine-maildir-4.56... It'll be about 24 hours before the updated maildir patch makes it's way around the gentoo mirrors so it'll be marked stable once it makes it's way around.
Should 4.56 be considered stable yet?
it is currently marked stable
Ah, yes, my mistake; pine-maildir 4.56 is marked stable, but not regular pine (at least not for x86; only sparc).
