Description Orson Teodoro 2007-10-15 07:25:05 UTC
I have an new ebuild for setiathome. It is minimal from the previous submitted ebuild found http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=136862. I think the 5.28 versions require 5.10.x builds. The version that I'm about to submit compiles fine against 5.10.21 found at http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=173503. Grab the ebuild that was created for use with seti at home. There isn't any news of the latest official client especially a Linux client but the submitted ebuild is based off the nightly ebuilds, which only maybe on site for a month so save a copy on the site. You can change the date on the ebuild which looks like 5.28.yyyymmdd to a future date and it will update to the nightly builds found http://setiweb.ssl.berkeley.edu/sah/seti_source/nightly.

Patches will follow and will disable boinc existence check and apply minor fixes to the build to compile against boinc or future version >= 5.10.21. You may want to specify use flag with fftw to use SIMD when using FFT. If you don't use it it will use a ooura which doesn't use SIMD (sse) optimization. The ebuild will warn you about this. The opengl option compiles the eyecandy stuff. To see it you have to send xhost +local: to command line which may be unsafe in multiuser environment so disable with xhost -local: (including the colin).

svn version

Grabs setiathome from svn (setisvn.ssl.berkeley.edu) since they no longer provide nightly tarballs. Depends on Bug 173503 boinc ebuilds.

@Orson, could you also have a look at bug #136862 to see if there's anything to pick up, otherwise I'll close it as duplicate of this bug (compilation on a non-see, non-mmx or i586 box for example).

sci-astronomty/setiathome is masked for removal in 30 days.
Please comment on bug #257233 if you see any reason to keep it around.
Thanks.
