UT2004 doesn't start on my system with the bundled openal, but since version 0.0.8-r2 the system library stopped producing any sound. I found the problem to be the 005_all_alsa_default_freq patch, without it everything works again.
It is also recommended to remove 005_all_alsa_default_freq.patch, in the final comments of bug #193147.
I forgot to mention that my sound card is a Sound Blaster Live! Value and I'm using ALSA with OSS emulation enabled, if it matters. I don't know if this is the same as bug #193147 because Chromium uses OpenAL and works fine here with 005_all_alsa_default_freq.patch .
