Description Zsolti 2007-10-08 21:03:55 UTC
if a gnome-session is quit with an open application like firefox or thunderbird metacity fails to start with the next session. i'm unsure if it cores or just disappears. it seems also to happen with openoffice.
i'm also unsure where the root of the problem lies. if it's gnome-session or metacity.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. quit a gnome with an open application like firefox
2. login again

Actual Results:
metacity is gone. not in the session-list anymore.

There's a fix included in 2.20.x for that. Wonder if we should worry about backporting

metacity-2.18.5-dont-deref-null-pointer.patch

Maybe you could try this fedora patch that fixes https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=243761

Good luck

I don't think it's worth patching 2.18.5 now, 2.20 has been stable for a while already and 2.22 will start to enter the tree in less than 2 weeks. Closing wontfix. Please reopen if there is an imperious reason for us to fix this.
