Since the development started on Synergy again, I decided to write a live ebuild to grab the latest sources. The author doesn't really add experimental code in trunk, just stable stuff. He has his own repository that he does all the development work in. Anyways, there are tons of bug fixes in trunk that would solve a lot of people's issues. I have read the forums and most of the bugs reported there are fixed in svn. :) This is the first time I wrote a live ebuild, so let me know if anything needs to be changed to make it proper so I can learn how to make them properly. I hope this helps anyone and maybe it can go into portage. I can confirm that it works since I am using it right now. I linked in the forum post where I posted this ebuild. No one posted anything there yet about the ebuild being broken, so I believe all is well. Thanks to the people in #gentoo-dev-help for helping me with autotools.
Created attachment 132782 [details] synergy-9999.ebuild This is the Live Ebuild for Synergy. :) Enjoy.
We are generally not adding more live VCS ebuilds, see http://www.gentoo.org/proj/en/devrel/handbook/handbook.xml?part=3&chap=1#doc_chap3 I guess we could produce a snapshot to get these fixes in instead, changing summary accordingly.
A snapshot would be a good idea. The sources from the SVN need eautoreconf done to them, but they work fine after that. This ebuild I posted is a slightly modified official ebuild from portage. Thanks for taking an interest in this.
Reassigning to herd since nakano has retired from Gentoo.
Synergy-Plus will replace synergy soonish.
