/usr/bin/wvText should create a plain text file from a MS-Word document file, but it did not because that script is outdated. It uses another script called wvHtml which in this version needs the parameter "--targetdir" to specify a working directory different from "." . Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.wvText word.doc word.txt 2. 3. Actual Results: The program outputs the message "Could not convert into HTML" . Expected Results: It should create a plain text version "word.txt" of the MS-Word document "word.doc" My suggestion is to change the line 32 in the script "/usr/bin/wvText" from <TMP_FILE="/tmp/wv$$.html"> to < TMP_FILE="wv$$.html">
which version of wv is this ? i just tested it with the latest ~ in portage and it worked fine for me. If it only happens in older versions, i just bump the latest to stable.
Upgrading from wv-0.7.1 (x86) to wv-0.7.5 (~x86) correct this bug.
0.7.5 is marked stable, that should get around this.
and closing. thanks for your report
