Description Raimondo Giammanco 2003-04-17 03:30:16 UTC
Hello,
 Having emerged fortune-mod after xscreensaver,
fortune is put in /usr/bin/fortune
while xscreensaver search for it in
/usr/games/fortune.

A link is sufficient to solve the problem.

Maybe a change to add in the ebuild?

R.G.

As long as fortune is in your path I don't see what the problem is. You can't tell
the particular screen saver where to find fortune aswell. Can you be more
specific about what the problem is?

Sorry, that should read you CAN tell the screen savers where to find fortune in
the settings.

Hello,
indeed it is possible to go to the settings of, say,
phosphor and set manually the location of fortune in
/usr/bin. However, phosphor is not the only
screensaver using fortune: it can get tedious to
go around the xscreensaver settings changing a bunch
of files. I do not know why xscreensaver looks
for fortune in /usr/games (incidentally, RedHat 7.0 had it
there), but for making it work just out of the box, whithout
putting links or changing preferences, it would be nice
to write maybe a patch for having phosphor and similia
look for fortune in /usr/bin as well.
