/usr/portage/profiles/default-linux/x86/use.mask says # Raúl Porcel <armin76@gentoo.org> (4 Sep 2007) # Doesn't work fine, requested by steev networkmanager Therefor it is masked for the whole x86 architecture (it is the only use flag masked there btw). Although the networkmanager use flag does not seem to be used in many ebuilds (I counted two) it works for me at least in pidgin. Raúl Porcel doesnt use networkmanager and Steev Klimaszewski did not answer on my mail. So I wonder why it is masked..?
It's masked intentionally, NM is not stable.
(In reply to comment #1) > It's masked intentionally, NM is not stable. I had the same opinion some months ago. Today I think networkmanager is stable enough. Anyway thanks for clarifying.. For the archives - if you do want to use the networkmanager use flag: mkdir -p /etc/portage/profile echo '-networkmanager' >> /etc/portage/profile/use.mask
