Description Quequero 2003-04-15 21:09:23 UTC
Hi all, after some hours of work I've adapted the old patch from suse (for lilo-22.3.x) and i've
ported it to lilo-22.5.1, I've done some minor changes to gfxlogo.S for fixing a long jump, all is
working fine here (tested only on 3 pc) but some other tests should be done :)
Ok I hope this will bring some happiness to all graphic-boot-fans ;p
bye bye all

This is the boot-patch that i've done for last lilo version (it should be
inserted in ${FILESDIR} otherwise ebuild needs to be edited)

nice work, quequero

Az, I don't think woodchip wants to maintain things, so punting to you while I look for someone to maintain lilo.

quequero, are you interested?
Comment 5 Quequero 2003-04-16 07:31:35 UTC
Thanx azarah, btw it could be nice to maintain lilo, let me know plz :)
I've noticed a timer problem at boot (strangely only on one pc) and I'm going to test better this patch I'll post updates in the afternoon, thanx azarah.

Ups, i've just noticed that seemant wrote the last message not azarah ;p, sorry
seemant :)

Just an update for everyone reading:
patch is working fine but it seems to ignore the value after timeout=xx in lilo.conf,
so default OS will auto-boot but after an hour or so :/, everything else is working
normally btw. I'm working on it since yesterday night and I'll fix this bug as soon
as i can, I'm sorry for the inconvenience.
c ya all :)

Hi Quequero

Yeah I ported this patch twice before, not knowing assembly it took
quite a bit each time. But I didnt have a timeout= problem/bug...

I'm afraid I wouldn't really be able to spend enough time on it to
port it again, or discover source of problem. But hey if you get it
to work I'll certainly put the patch back in...

I still use lilo-22.3.4 and see no problems with any box also.

Good Luck ;)

Thanx wood, i'm working hard on this patch for finding the problem and I think that a day or another it will come out ;pppp I only need a boot-time debugger for now ;ppp

Added to 22.5.6-r2. It works fine on my two boxes at home, as well as one at
work.

sorry for spamming you all a bit on an old bug, but I can't find the patch for the old 22.3 series anywhere, it's not in portage or the mirrors anymore. If any of you have it, or a link, I would appreciate it a lot.
