Description André Terpstra 2007-09-26 18:40:34 UTC
I upgraded a couple of weeks ago to xorg-server 1.4 which also pulled in / updated a number of other ebuilds. Before that I had already upgraded to gcc-4.2.0 and found no problems. After this X became unusable because after loading the window manager first the central box and then the whole screen became white. I could only exit by killing the server with Ctrl-Alt-Backspace.

After browsing bugzilla I downgraded back to gcc-4.1.2, and then recompiled a few packages including xorg-server (now at 1.4-r1 I believe) and pixman.

Nothing helps. What can be wrong?

Reproducible: Always

Oh and I should add that I had beryl installed. It worked flawlessy before, however.

I've been especially looking at bug #192048 but this one seems different to me.

OK after some hard thinking I decided to "sacrifice" beryl. It's going to be replaced by compiz-fusion anyway. This solved the issue for me. Wonder whether I could now go back to gcc-4.2.0?
