Running with WINEDEBUG=1 I was getting this error:

wine: could not load L"Z:\\opt\\picasa\\wine\\lib\\wine\\wdi.exe.so": Bad EXE format for 
Wine cannot find the FreeType font library.  To enable Wine to
use TrueType fonts please install a version of FreeType greater than
or equal to 2.0.5.

Application tries to create a window, but no driver could be loaded.
Make sure that your X server is running and that $DISPLAY is set correctly.


I emerged emul-linux-x86-xlibs and emul-linux-x86-baselibs and removed my .picasa directory. It works now!
