Description Serhiy Kalchuk 2007-09-23 19:35:43 UTC
When launching abiword the splash screen appears and then immediately disappears and there is an 'Aborted' message in console. That's it.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. start abiword

Actual Results:
immediately crashes

Expected Results:
There should be the main window up :)

I do not experience this problem.
do you have abiword-plugins installed ? If yes could you reemerge it.
This is a reference to an UNSAVED document. Could you try to move it out of the way and see if it's better ?

Comment 4 Serhiy Kalchuk 2007-09-23 20:23:44 UTC
No, I have not installed abiword-plugins.
What concerns the Untitled1.abw.SAVED file, abiword creates it if I answer 'yes' to

>**** (1) Assert ****
>**** (1) font at gr_UnixGraphics.cpp:1198 ****
>**** (1) Continue ? (y/n) [y] : y

Otherwise, it just says 'Aborted' and quits.

Hmm, the development 2.5.2 sources from the website seem to be working..

I still don't have any idea what your problem would be.
Do you have any custom installed libs in /usr/local ?
Comment 7 Serhiy Kalchuk 2008-01-06 18:27:22 UTC
After numerous tries to find out, why it didn't work, I actually gave up the idea using abiword. However, after your post I recalled that I recently switched to the newest stable kernel and decided to see if this might have fixed it somehow. And it works now ) Wonder, if this is exactly the kernel, which caused it to fail. But now I can't know for sure, for I didn't build it for a while, and many updates took place in that time.
I haven't seen many people experiencing this bug (in fact I found none with symptoms like mine) so I believe the bug now can be closed.

thanks for the info. I don't think it was the kernel though, it would rather be one of the other udpates :)
