I have set up a portage mirror and it can be reached via rsync://argl.spline.inf.fu-berlin.de/gentoo-portage (160.45.117.66). Feel free to add it to your DNS, you can contact me at jan-gentoo@spline.de.
Will this be an rsync mirror, a source mirror, or both?
I'm assuming at least an rsync mirror. I checked the timestamp file, which appears to be off by a 1/2 hour. Can you verify that you're syncing every 30 minutes at :00 and :30 intervals?
for now it's only the portage tree. i'm using your rsync-gentoo-portage.sh and start it at 0 and 30 in my crontab. here are a few lines from the logfile: Started update at Wed Apr 16 10:30:00 CEST 2003 End: Wed Apr 16 10:30:17 CEST 2003 Started update at Wed Apr 16 11:00:00 CEST 2003 End: Wed Apr 16 11:00:18 CEST 2003 Started update at Wed Apr 16 11:30:00 CEST 2003 End: Wed Apr 16 11:30:24 CEST 2003 Started update at Wed Apr 16 12:00:00 CEST 2003 End: Wed Apr 16 12:00:17 CEST 2003 any ideas?
I've added 160.45.117.66 to the access list for rsync1.us.gentoo.org. We'll see if that helps. Please update your rsync cron jobs to point to that server and post back here when you've done so. We'll monitor the server for a couple days to make sure things are working fine and then add it to the rotation.
the portage mirror is now syncing with rsync1.us.gentoo.org. i hope that helps ...
This server is now rsync11.de.gentoo.org and is part of the rsync.europe.gentoo.org and rsync.de.gentoo.org rotations. We will also add it to the main rotation as soon as we work out some other DNS-related issues we're having. Thanks for helping to support Gentoo linux.
