Description Rob Kroeger 2003-04-14 20:57:42 UTC
It would be nice if the Sparc install manual mentioned that silo-1.2.6 is
incapable of loading second stage boot information from a partition created
with reiserfs. In particular, /boot should be ext2. Because silo can't
read from a reiserfs partition, /etc/silo.conf must be copied to /boot.

Also, at least on my system, formating /dev/hda1 with reiserfs seemed to trash
the disk label. (Though perhaps I did something else stupid.) Consequently, I
suggest that conservative installs put /boot on /dev/hda1
