Description jeremie.rodriguez 2007-09-21 09:54:08 UTC
When I go to the menu Tools/Options, under the menu "OpenOffice.org / Security", if I click on the button "Macros security", OpenOffice totally freezes. I must kill the process.

Under the same menu but at "OpenOffice.org / Java", OpenOffice freezes too.

The problem exists for sure since OpenOffice 2.2 to 2.3. I use the package app-office/openoffice-bin

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Menu Tools / Options
2.OpenOffice.org / Security / Macros security button
3.Or OpenOffice.org / Java

Actual Results:
OpenOffice freezes.

Expected Results:
Simply displaying the options

Java :
dev-java/sun-jre-bin-1.6.0.02
dev-java/blackdown-jdk-1.4.2.03-r15

OpenOffice :
2.2 or 2.3

I've tried to delete my user config directory (/home/*/.ooo-2.0) and the problem appears anyway.

Really don't see what we could fix with openoffice-bin. You need to report this upstream - see http://qa.openoffice.org/ooQAReloaded/ooQA-ReportBugs.html

??? That bug is about compile failure and completely unrelated to this freeze.

Can't reproduce here, both work perfectly fine, but I'm using sun-jdk-1.5 as my system java, so you might try if changing this helps you

I've tried with JRE/JDK 1.4 ; 1.5 ; 1.6. Same problem. I'm not sure that the problem comes from Java.

I've noticed one interesting thing : when the "Security" window freezes, if I do a "ps aux | grep office" and then, kill one of the OpenOffice process running (/usr/lib/openoffice/program/soffice.bin, which appears two times, with two differents PIDs), the Macro Security window suddenly appears.

Is this still a problem for you with a more recent OOo?

Yep, with openoffice-bin-2.4.0 I still have these two problems (the one with Java and the one with the macros security window).

Aaah, no, I didn't check correctly with openoffice-bin-2.4.0, sorry. The freezes are no more. I changed my PC since the time I filed the bug report but before the 2.4.0 version, the bug was still there.

Sorry for my last wrong answer.
