Description Xavier 2003-04-14 13:43:02 UTC
aha152x driver compiled as built-in is ignored at kernel statup with
gentoo-2.4.20-r2 but load ok with vanilla-2.4.20
No message is displayed at all. .config file is the same.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.make menuconfig and select [*]aha152x scsi driver along with scsi cdrom and
tape support
2.make bzImage
3.boot with it

Actual Results:
Driver is simply ignored

Expected Results:
Driver should be loaded and attached drives listed (cdrom & tape)

Please see http://bugme.osdl.org/show_bug.cgi?id=581
It looks like 2.4.20-gentoo-r5 uses backported code.
IMHO gento-2.4.20 should stick to driver from 2.4.20-vanilla.
Anyway, I'm back to vanilla.

the driver for your card in gentoo-sources-2.4.20-r5 is the *same* as the 2.4.20 vanilla.

try diffing aha152x.c & aha152x.h between the 2 sources and see for yourself.

at this point you've provided a brief hardware description, no .config, no message out (ie. dmesg).

i cannot help fix this without more info.
