Crashes on startup, there is a traceback of sorts, which I'll attach

dunno if it helps, but I am actually running gnome from the gnome-experimental overlay (and gentopia as well), but recently they upgraded to gnome-2.20

Can you try openoffice in X without a desktop manager? If it crashes then take a look at the crash output. If its different then what you've attached, can you post it here please.

At least with this we can determine whether or not it is related to gdm. Hopefully it is.

Good call, Mark!  I tried running oowriter from an xterm in twm, and voila, it worked just fine.  So gnome/gdm is a culprit.

Works fine for me here, with the gnome overlay.

removing my ~/.ooo-2 directory fixed the issue.  sorry for the noise.
