Isn't this now merged in the latest ruby-1.8.6_p?

seems so, but i couldn't find out if the bugs he mentioned are fixed (in -p36) the code at least is different, but i'm not really familar with the ruby module api ... 

otoh, latest stable mongrel still needs fastthread, but gives a warning about threads not found although it seem to startup nevertheless.

would be nice to see 1.0 stabilizied before ruby 1.8.7 or any of the patch releases ..

Makes sense to me to stabilize this last version of fastthreads even if it got included in the latest ruby patch version, as some people/arches are still on ruby 1.8.5. I'd keep fastthread in the tree as long as we have stable ruby versions in the tree that may need it, like we still have 1.8.4 and 1.8.5.
