Description Victor Roman Archidona 2007-09-18 12:51:58 UTC
I have got the problems below installing mailman. My python version is 2.5.1-r2

net-mail/mailman-2.1.9:
-----------------------
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "bin/check_perms", line 383, in <module>
    checkarchives()
  File "bin/check_perms", line 206, in checkarchives
    print _('%(private)s must not be other-readable'),
  File "/var/tmp/portage/net-mail/mailman-2.1.9/image//usr/local/mailman/Mailman/i18n.py", line 90, in _
ValueError: unsupported format character 'n' (0x6e) at index 11

net-mail/mailman-2.1.9-r1
-------------------------
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "bin/check_perms", line 382, in <module>
    checkall()
  File "bin/check_perms", line 196, in checkall

  File "/var/tmp/portage/net-mail/mailman-2.1.9-r1/image//usr/lib/mailman/Mailman/i18n.py", line 90, in _
ValueError: unsupported format character 't' (0x74) at index 8

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. emerge mailman
2.
3.

Actual Results:
Mailman seems to be installed, but running bin/check_perms results, again, in the problem specified above.

Expected Results:
Mailman correctly installed and working

Hi,

doing some research I found this:

http://mail.python.org/pipermail/mailman-users/2003-November/032774.html

My LC_ALL and LANG variables were "es_ES.UTF-8", so changing it to "C" allowed mailman to be correctly merged.

We don't run check_perms on installation any more, so it should be fine now.
