At the top of the Bug is the link, there is no need to attach info that I have already hosted.

Thanks for taking the time to read thoroughly.

Post your `emerge --info`, the output of `emerge -vp mplayer` and a description of the bug here, notably stating what command actually produced which error. Outside URLs are not acceptable. Note that you do NOT need to post your kernel config.
Comment 5 Tim Nelson 2007-09-17 20:42:43 UTC
emerge -vp mplayer

These are the packages that would be merged, in order:

Description.
Step 1) I clicketh the mplayer on the kmenu which lay upon thee kicker applicator.
Step 2) A pop up which states "[ws] shared memory extension error" impedes my viewing of porn :(
Comment 8 Tim Nelson 2007-09-18 01:22:34 UTC
I have recompiled a few times with different USE flags to no avail. When running gmplayer from terminal I see this error. Also, I can change the -vo to gl etc, nothing solves it with mplayer runtime options.

(<unknown>:13722): Gdk-WARNING **: shmget failed: error 38 (Function not implemented)
[ws] shared memory extension error
Comment 9 Reimar Döffinger 2007-09-18 08:51:08 UTC
Sounds like something seriously wrong with your X-Server configuration, it claims to support SHM but actually does not.
Starting it as
DISPLAY=localhost:0 gmplayer
might work around the problem...
Comment 10 Tim Nelson 2007-09-19 11:44:18 UTC
Attempted that and it did not work. It just pulled up the options as if I was typing "mplayer" with no options. I went through and recompiled xorg-server and xorg-x11 with the same results. Even though the xserver is now 1.3.0.0.

I also attached my kernel config if you could take a look at it. Also for VIDEO_CARD="ati" in my make.conf is there any other options I may need? Tonight I will try compiling libx11 without xcb as a USE flag since I have that right now and it has been known to break other things. If this is the case I will update and close the bug.

Thanks in advance.
Comment 11 Tim Nelson 2007-09-20 14:18:37 UTC
Went through my Kernel and rebuilt it. SHM was already enabled but I disabled and reenabled and selected some other things. Works now.

I will attach my new kernel config for comparison in a bit.
Comment 12 Jakub Moc (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-09-20 14:48:30 UTC
Has nothing do to with mplayer, plus the resolution is incorrect.
Comment 13 Jakub Moc (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-09-20 14:52:11 UTC
Once you've figured out the "other things" that made ati-drivers work, reopen the bug with relevant info.
