I tried several versions of Myhtv but I always gat this error:

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Run mythfrontend
2. Wait 1 second
Actual Results:  
Mythfrontend didn't start

Expected Results:  
Mythfrontend should start

"Several" versions of MythTV would be which versions? Also you would need to be specific when it worked for you and when it didn't. What USE flags are you using on mythtv itself?

However, in the long run. You would probably need to compile mythfrontend with the debug USE flag and run it via gdb. Since this is not a problem that exhibits itself to other users.

It was something related to modelines in my xorg.conf.
Commenting modelines and restarting solved the problem and now mythfronted works 10/10
