Description crusaderky 2007-09-14 11:01:02 UTC
Using alsa-lib-1.0.14_rc1, teamspeak works fine. However, if I update to alsa-lib-1.0.14a or 1.0.14a-r1,

TeamSpeak

continues working normally, however with

aoss TeamSpeak

(which is required if I want to play any games with it) I can still hear the "link engaged/disengaged" messages, but the microphone is muted.

I haven't got any other sound application or daemon going on.

Workaround: revert back to alsa-lib-1.0.14_rc1.

Wouldn't it be more logical to treat this as an alsa-lib regression? Alsa-lib is what changed, not teamspeak-client.

Hard to say. The problem is in how alsa-lib emulates OSS, and in how TeamSpeak exploits it. So it might be the former that broke the specifications, or the latter that assumes something that was provided but not assumed before.
Comment 3 crusaderky 2007-09-14 17:52:30 UTC
before somebody asks: the version of alsa-oss and emul-linux-x86-soundlibs is NOT relevant. I already tried rebuilding them after I installed alsa-lib-1.0.14a.

2 years old bug; alsa, emul libs (just today), etc. have all upgraded meanwhile. closing.. reopen if it's still an issue on up-to-date system.
