Description Jim Ramsay (lack) (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-09-13 17:03:21 UTC
After installing myspell-en-20061316 with openoffice-2.2.1, the "Thesaurus" tool in Tools>Languages>Thesaurus is not greyed out, but searching for any word at all in the thesaurus fails.

I followed the instructions in this forum post:
  http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-507367.html
Where it suggests you download:
http://ftp.services.openoffice.org/pub/OpenOffice.org/contrib/dictionaries/thes_en_US_v2.zip

I install this manually, restart Openoffice, and suddenly the thesaurus works like a charm!

I may try my hand at an ebuild, but your app-dict stuff is pretty weird... looks like you mirror all the sources locally?

Reassigning, not handled directly by us
Comment 2 Ken Rushia 2007-10-02 15:34:52 UTC
I can confirm this problem on my system as well, with app-office/openoffice-bin-2.3.0
Comment 3 Kevin F. Quinn (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-02-04 21:57:41 UTC
Reassigning due to retirement

Any news on this bug (even if it is certainly a low-priority one)?

Seem that we need to update all myspell dictionaries... I'll take a look what can be done here on this week.

@Peter: Still motivated to update the myspell dictionaries? ;)
Comment 7 Peter Volkov (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-11-03 21:35:48 UTC
Well, new version is in the tree. But seems the more work is required.

Andreas do I understand correctly that new OO 3 does not use dictionary.lst files and just works based on filenames?

Yes. At least it works fine here without any dictionary.lst-files ;)

Ok, then this is a kind of regression (well not in OO but in the way we install myspell-* packages), since if we previously had same hyphenation file for more than one Conutry code it will not work. For example for myspell-en currently we have the following in dictionary.lst (I've manually created symlink in /usr/share/myspell):

HYPH en US hyph_en_GB
HYPH en GB hyph_en_GB
HYPH en CA hyph_en_GB
HYPH en AU hyph_en_GB

But hyphenation works only for en_GB. This is kind of predictable, but have to be fixed. Hm I have to commit all the changes in myspell.eclass I did locally one day... Keeping this bug open until I fix that too.

Not relevant for (open|libre)office anymore
Comment 11 Pacho Ramos gentoo-dev 2012-10-09 18:15:11 UTC
This needs to be rechecked on latest systems with latest openoffice/libreoffice
