I emerged Opera, and attempted to start it as a user, and got this message: /usr/bin/opera: line 138: 6213 Segmentation fault "${BINARYDIR}/opera" "${@}"
Yeah, I get that too... beats the heck out of me what causes it, I spose I could strace it and look... Azarah, seth I added you guys, cuz I know you know stuff... any hints would be helpful, on my system, this bug started hapening about ever 3rd time I started opera a while ago, currently, under enlightement, opera works OK, but in openbox, opera segfaults while trying to start.
heh so i know stuff ? =) i'll take a look...you want me to just emerge opera and try?
This is quite interesting: It works now. Update to the latest versions of xfree86, xft, pango, fontconfig, and see if that does it for you (I believe that was the difference for me)
Oh, and you could try opera-7 if you want too.
I've been running emerge world several times a week, and have been using very late version of all the tools (pango, xfree, xft, fontconfig) you mentioned. However, Opera 7 works fine.
Closing bug, opera 7.11 which will be in stable profile soon fixes.
