When I tried to install Limewire using their java installer everythign worked fine and no errors were reported, however the interface was non responsive to mouse clicks. It would respond to keyboard commands but did not to mouse clicks. I unmerged the package and emerged ibm-jdk and was able to install Limewire and run it with no problem, therefore leading me to believe it is a problem with teh blackdown-jdk ebuild/package... If any other information is needed feel free to contact me at: shepherg@engr.sc.edu Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install and run the Limewire GUI based APP (http://www.limewire.org) Actual Results: Everything seemed fine but the interface was non responsive to mouse clicks Expected Results: responded to mouse clicks Portage 2.0.47-r10 (default-ppc-1.4, gcc-3.2.1, glibc-2.3.1-r4) ================================================================= System uname: 2.4.20-ben10 ppc GENTOO_MIRRORS="http://gentoo.oregonstate.edu/ http://www.ibiblio.org/pub/Linux/distributions/gentoo" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /var/qmail/control /usr/kde/2/share/config /usr/kde/3/share/config /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/xkb /usr/kde/3.1/share/config /usr/share/config" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/gconf /etc/env.d" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR_OVERLAY="" USE="oss dvd xv libwww jpeg nls mitshm gif png truetype ppc gdbm berkdb slang readline tcltk X sdl gpm tcpd pam ssl perl python esd imlib oggvorbis gtk qt kde motif opengl mozilla apm arts avi cdr crypt cups directfb emacs fbcon -gnome java maildir mpeg mule pdflib quicktime samba xmms" COMPILER="gcc3" CHOST="powerpc-unknown-linux-gnu" CFLAGS="-O3 -pipe -mcpu=750" CXXFLAGS="-O2 -pipe" ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="ppc" MAKEOPTS="-j2" AUTOCLEAN="yes" SYNC="rsync://rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" FEATURES="ccache"
this has been a long standing (known) problem with the blackdown releases, it has never worked for them, I think it's all swing based. The only solution is the ibm-jdk unfortunately, blackdown knows of and has done nothing with this problem for over a year now
please use ibm-jdk (1.4.1 available)
can be closed - please reopen if problem persists with ibm jdk
