I don't know if the developers realize it, but there is a crisis in gentoo relating to the install systems. I haven't been able to install gentoo onto a new system since the stage 1's were done away with. I've been a gentoo user since the first slashdot story, so I've had a bit of experience. The problem is that the graphical and text installers, aren't working. For example I've just tried to install an amd64, but wasn't able to. (bug already reported elsewhere). I don't understand were the bug is coming from or how to work around it. And that is the key. If I were following a step by step install, like the stage one used to be, I would know exactly where the problem occurred. I've found this with every gentoo automatic installer. I had 100% success with stage one installs, close to 0% success with every other system on gentoo. (Every other linux system I've had no problems with, but I would rather stay with gentoo) Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Put in LiveCD 2.Click on Install button 3.Something fails.
Thanks for feedback, but bugzilla is wrong place for this. See http://www.gentoo.org/main/en/lists.xml
