After the LiveCD is almost completely started it tried to start Xorg. The screen flashes several times and i get the failed notice.
...and? Without more information, there's nothing that we can do. Have you tried booting with "nox" and checking the xorg.conf file? How about letting it boot and grabbing the Xorg.0.log from /var/log or any other useful information you can gather? Please REOPEN the bug when you have more information to provide.
This card won't work with any current xorg provided driver. I have it running on some ASUS A8V-VM SE (Chrome9 K8M890) workstations with a self-compiled openchrome driver (svn 387 experimental branch), but that's currently the only reasonable option. It still only supports 2D. Note to release team: It's possible to just replace the xorg/freedesktop xf86-video-via provided via_drv.so with the openchrome version on boot media, that would allow working X11 during installation. The xorg driver is - well - mostly unusable for anything but ancient unichrome hardware. The openchrome driver supports this hardware just as well.
Any ideas if the newer drivers work?

Is this still a problem with current LiveCDs?
