I was having issues trying to build openoffice (see http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=47063&highlight=openoffice for details). Based on the error message (problems with /usr/bin/ccache/...) somone suggested that I unmerge distcc. However, running 'qpkg --info distcc' on my system did not report any installed versions of 'distcc'. However, the files in /usr/bin/ccache, which at this point consisted only of broken symlinks, still remained. Removing the /usr/bin/ccache/ directory and all of it's contents got me past the openoffice.org build problem. But is seems like distcc should remove the /usr/bin/ccache directory when it is unmerged. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce:
qpkg -f /usr/bin/ccache dev-util/ccache * this says all
I have neither distcc nor ccache istalled, and I still have the /usr/bin/ccache/ directory. qpkg -f /usr/bin/ccache gives no output, and running qpkg on the files in /usr/bin/ccache does likewise. So where did that directory and it's contents come from? (And why do they confuse openoffice --- see bug 19155?)
