ledmac is a package for LaTeX that allows you to produce professional critical editions. With ledmac and the ledpar extension you can typeset your critical edition in parallel columns or on parallel pages. The ledarab extension in combination with ledmac and ArabTeX makes Arabic critical editions possible. Reproducible: Always

ledmac is in texlive-humanities; do we really want to take it out and have a new ebuild for it ? esp. considering: Changes (2008/05/28) o I, Peter Wilson, can no longer support ledmac, ledpar or ledarab. Please do not contact me about them unless you are offering to take over the maintenance of the packages. If you have any questions, ask on the comp.text.tex newsgroup. in the README file on the CTAN page.
once we remove tetex from tree, this can be removed too. having it in sunrise is not harming anybody (i'm still under tetex:)
