Description Roel van Dijk 2003-04-10 10:59:35 UTC
When I select some text in konqueror the systems stops responding to input. To only
thing that keeps working is the mouse cursor. But I can't click on anything.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Start konqueror
2. Go to http://www.gprsworld.nl/achtergrond/inleiding/inleiding_achtergrond.htm
3. Select the first alinea of text by dragging the mouse over the text
Actual Results:
Everything except the mouse cursor freezes. The system doesn't respond the mouse
clicks. I can't switch to a TTY with "CTR+ALT+F1". Keyboard input is ignored.

Expected Results:
Just select the text so I can copy/paste it.

qt: 3.1.2
glibc: 2.3.1-r4
gcc: 3.2.2
kde: 3.1.1
xfree: 4.2.1-r2

I suspect that the bug is caused by the combination of qt and kde. See also the output
of emerge -p qt
These are the packages that I would merge, in order:

Calculating dependencies ...done!
[blocks B ] =kde-base/kdebase-3.1.1 (from pkg x11-libs/qt-3.1.2)
[ebuild R ] x11-libs/qt-3.1.2
here it works, try to upgrade to xfree 4.3 but i don't know if this can fix problems. Also,
would be useful to know which video drivers are you using for your graphic card
Comment 4 Denis Treskunov 2003-05-23 01:30:06 UTC
If you are using Nvidia drivers, try disabling RenderAccel by adding 'Option "RenderAccel"
"false"' line to your /etc/X11/XF86Config file, under Section "Device". This fixed the crashing
problem for me. I didn't notice any slowdowns at all.
Comment 5 Paul de Vrieze (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-06-08 13:25:02 UTC
Did this fix the problem?
Comment 6 Randy Roesler 2003-06-25 22:58:20 UTC
Noticed the same behaviour when trying to display the web page

I was unable to reproduce the problem. Can it still be reproduced?
Comment 8 Roel van Dijk 2003-11-24 23:45:25 UTC
I now have KDE from CVS and xfree 4.3.0-r3 and I can't reproduce the bug anmore. So I guess it is solved.
