Description tomas charvat 2007-08-25 22:12:02 UTC
Current version of CRM114 from gentoo portage is quite old and little bit buggy. Newer version will need TRE 0.7.5 , now we have 0.7.4 in the portage
dev-libs/tre

Reproducible: Always

Umm, did you also file a request for tre to be bumped? I haven't and that is why I haven't bumped crm114, I am not the maintainer of tre. If you file a bump request for tre, please add it as a dependency of this one.

I trough, that this will be handled by tre maintainer :)
I were about to fill crm later, but since you are already here, i filled tre request :)

greetings,

i found easy way, how to upgrade tre, before 0.7.5 will make it into the portage.
Its quite simply, just copy one file and thats it. You can find dirty guide how to do it here http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=190270 .

I also managed to compile "crm114-20070810-BlameTheSegfault" ... i will report if it works fine, but it should.

Since bumping tre seems to be 2 mins job, i hope we will be able to push crm114 into the portage in short time.

I do apologise - this is completely my fault, I've known about it for a long time, I just haven't been able to get around to doing it - and currently, the weather is not very good (been 2 days without power although it is back currently, looking to be a rough go this weekend as well. I will get to this as soon as possible.

I plan on doing this bump soon - sorry it has taken so long - I emailed the user maintainer because I plan on also cleaning up the versions that we have in portage, getting rid of the older versions which were never stabled. Thanks for being patient!

Finally added this to Portage tree, in 2 hours it should be available in the ~arch tree. If no issues are found, it will go stable in 30 days. Thanks for your patience and the report!

Thanks a lot. Im looking forward to try it. Btw i also spotted, that there is optimalized version for x86_64 systems.

Related documentation:
http://crm114.sourceforge.net/wiki/doku.php?id=coolthings (first thing on that page) It points to http://hebbut.net/Public.Offerings/index.html#crm114 .
However i didnt have time to check the diferences yet.

It seems to be just build of CRM114 and patch set for this version.
Might be worth to check.

Again, thanks a lot and wish you more power ;)

First of all, i would suggest to put warning after emerging crm114, that CSS files from version 20060704a are not compatible with 20070810 and later relaes. I didnt find way how to import old CSS files, dump and restore doesnt work.

And story about x86_64 optimized version is like this.
This version of crm114 is optimized for x64, however it should run on 32bits as well. Optimizations are to be merged into the main tree in the future. Until then, author keep patching current/latest non official release here.

Authoer said, that on x64, its worth to try, on 32bits we should go for official.

Dunno Steev, do you think, its worth to add it ?
