Description Jan Kaliszewski 2007-08-21 21:11:01 UTC
media-libs/freetype 2.3.3, 2.3.4-r2 - bad distances beetween characters (especially before letter "i") in PDFs exported from openoffice (2.1.x or 2.2.x, probably older also), especially when using Times New Roman font from media-fonts/liberation-fonts-ttf (but not only, also I noticed problems for example with gentium font).

The workaround is to install older or newer media-libs/freetype (e.g. fortunately there is no problem with <=media-libs/freetype-2.1.10-r3 or =media-libs/freetype-2.3.5).

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Run oowriter and type something using Times New Roman.
2. Export PDF.
Actual Results:
Some characters (1 per 1000?) in exported PDF have broken distance before. There is no rule that for example each "i" is broken -- but the bug causes enough often to make PDF exporting useless.

Expected Results:
Well formated text in exported PDF.

2.3.5 is already stable on all arches and 2.3.6 is on its way. I suppose this bug is fixed. Thank you for report anyway.
