make_desktop_entry code for automatically generating a Category puts all media- ebuilds in AudioVideo in addition to a more specific one. Graphics is a valid main category and so does not need AudioVideo as well. It also causes a problem with media-gfx/xsane-0.994 ending up in both GNOME's "Sound & Video" and Graphics menus.
Created attachment 128582 [details, diff] eutils-mediagfx.patch A patch to eutils.eclass that installs media-gfx just with Graphics category. Works for me with xsane, haven't tried it with other media-.

Over two years since the issue was first identified - and still not resolved. No wonder Gentoo sometimes gets a bad rep! (Please - no flame wars.) What exactly is stopping this fix from being committed? If there is a reason, can we at least get some sort of dialogue going? Lets hope we can resolve this soon...
