After updating lirc to the latest stable version (0.8.2-r1) my creative livedvd (serial attached microcontroller controlled receiver) stopped working. Also no luck with cvs version. While every version including 0.8.1 works perfectly. Also tried with x86 - same results. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.emerge latest lirc 0.8.2 2.try to use with creative livedvd Actual Results: ignoring remote control commands Expected Results: following remote control commands Portage 2.1.2.11 (default-linux/amd64/2007.0/desktop, gcc-4.1.2, glibc-2.5-r4, 2.6.22-gentoo-r2-bug x86_64) ================================================================= System uname: 2.6.22-gentoo-r2-bug x86_64 AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3500+ Gentoo Base System release 1.12.9 Timestamp of tree: Thu, 16 Aug 2007 18:50:02 +0000 dev-java/java-config: 1.3.7, 2.0.33-r1 dev-lang/python: 2.4.4-r4 dev-python/pycrypto: 2.0.1-r6 sys-apps/sandbox: 1.2.17 sys-devel/autoconf: 2.13, 2.61 sys-devel/automake: 1.4_p6, 1.5, 1.6.3, 1.7.9-r1, 1.8.5-r3, 1.9.6-r2, 1.10 sys-devel/binutils: 2.17 sys-devel/gcc-config: 1.3.16 sys-devel/libtool: 1.5.23b virtual/os-headers: 2.6.21 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="amd64" AUTOCLEAN="yes" CBUILD="x86_64-pc-linux-gnu" CFLAGS="-march=k8 -fomit-frame-pointer -O2 -pipe" CHOST="x86_64-pc-linux-gnu" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/env.d /etc/env.d/java/ /etc/gconf /etc/init.d /etc/php/apache2-php5/ext-active/ /etc/php/cgi-php5/ext-active/ /etc/php/cli-php5/ext-active/ /etc/revdep-rebuild /etc/splash /etc/terminfo /etc/udev" CXXFLAGS="-march=k8 -fomit-frame-pointer -O2 -pipe" DISTDIR="/var/portage/distfiles" FEATURES="distlocks metadata-transfer parallel-fetch sandbox sfperms strict" GENTOO_MIRRORS="http://ftp.linux.ee/pub/gentoo/distfiles/ http://ftp.public.fix.fi/gentoo/ http://ds.thn.htu.se/linux/gentoo http://trumpetti.atm.tut.fi/gentoo/ ftp://ftp.linux.ee/pub/gentoo/distfiles/" LANG="en_US.UTF-8" LC_ALL="" LDFLAGS="-Wl,-O1" LINGUAS="en ru lv" PKGDIR="/var/portage/packages" PORTAGE_RSYNC_EXTRA_OPTS="--exclude-from=/etc/portage/rsync_excludes" PORTAGE_RSYNC_OPTS="--recursive --links --safe-links --perms --times --compress --force --whole-file --delete --delete-after --stats --timeout=180 --exclude=/distfiles --exclude=/local --exclude=/packages --filter=H_**/files/digest-*" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/var/portage" PORTDIR_OVERLAY="/usr/src/portage" SYNC="rsync://rsync.europe.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" USE="3dnow 3dnowext X a52 aac acpi alsa amd64 async bash-completion berkdb bitmap-fonts branding bzip2 cairo cddb cdparanoia cdr cgi chardet cli cracklib crypt cups curl dbus discard-path disk-partition divx djvu dmi dts dvd dvdnav dvdr dvdread dynamic emboss encode evo exif expat fam fastbuild fastcgi firefox flac foomaticdb force-cgi-redirect fortran ftp gd gdbm gif glibc-omitfp gmedia gmp gnutls gstreamer gtk hal iconv idn imap isdnlog jack java javascript jpeg jpeg2k kerberos krb4 lcms ldap libnotify lirc live logrotate lzo mad mhash midi mikmod mmap mmx mmxext mng mp2 mp3 mpeg mudflap musepack mysql mysqli ncurses network-cron nls nolvm1 nptl nptlonly nsplugin ogg openal opengl openmp oss pam pcntl pcre pdf pdo-external perl php plugins png pnm posix ppds pppd python qt3support qt4 quicktime radio rar readline realmedia reflection rtc samba sasl sdl session sharedext sharedmem sndfile sockets socks5 sound speex spell spl sse sse2 ssl startup-notification status svg swat symlink syslog sysvipc tcl tcpd tga theora tiff truetype truetype-fonts type1-fonts unicode urandom usb utils vda vim vim-syntax vorbis webdav wma wmp x264 xanim xcb xcomposite xinetd xml xorg xprint xv xvid xvmc zlib" ALSA_CARDS="hda-intel" ELIBC="glibc" INPUT_DEVICES="mouse keyboard evdev" KERNEL="linux" LINGUAS="en ru lv" LIRC_DEVICES="creative" USERLAND="GNU" VIDEO_CARDS="nvidia" Unset: CTARGET, EMERGE_DEFAULT_OPTS, INSTALL_MASK, MAKEOPTS, PORTAGE_COMPRESS, PORTAGE_COMPRESS_FLAGS
You should send this bug to lirc-developers as we do not know the hardware nor know about the lirc-changes since then.
This was upstream bug, everything works again with cvs snaps or with 0.8.3_pre1.
