Dell Inspiron 2650 Laptop booting from the 1.4_rc3 when I pass the "gentoo noscsi" option at boot. it works then, it locks up while attempting to detect the network devices (argh!), specifically on the de4x5 driver Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Have desire to install Gentoo Linux (the most badass version of Linux out there) onto my laptop 2. Boot from 1.4_rc3 LiveCD 3. watch system lock up at the scanning for storage hardware 4. reboot, and pass the "gentoo noscsi" option on boot time 5. celebrate as it does not lock up, as it skips this detection 6. curse and swear as the system locks up on detecting the NICs (de4x5) 7. reboot and use the "gentoo noscsi nonet" option, and cheer as I am prompted with the command prompt Actual Results: I was able to get the install going, but I had to disable the scsi and network auto-detection Expected Results: either not halted, or have these options disabled by default (just an opinion). I am also logging this, as this is what the info on the bootup told me to do. I want to do what I can to make this kickass distro better.
the default for -rc4 (just released) is noscsi, it also detects nics/hardware a totally different way. This should fix your problems. if not reopen.
