gcc/whatever segfault. Sure you have enouth free space and memory/swap ? Attach output of 'emerge info'.
glibc-2.3.2-r1 is in stable, and there hasn't been any updates on this bug so I'm assuming the problem was a local, random "quirk". Resolving as WORKSFORME. If the issue comes up again, feel free to re-open the bug.
