The data files need to be in /usr/kde/3.1/share to be picked up by the rest of KDE (menu, configs, docs, etc). Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. ebuild quanta 2. ls /usr/share/applnk 3. eek! Actual Results: I screamed. Expected Results: Installed those files to the /usr/kde/3.1 directories. That's about it. There's a configure option I believe, --sharedir= or something to set this (it's been a while since I did it, myself).
