Ekiga 2.0.9 crashes on startup with message:
Failed to read a valid object file image from memory.
This version used to work correctly until recently. I believe one of recent world updates broke it.
Installed version: 2.0.9(21:44:48 30 VII 2007)(avahi dbus -debug -doc gnome sdl)

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.type ekiga in terminal

Actual Results:  
Error message pops up: Failed to read a valid object file image from memory.

You need reemerge 

emerge -1 pwlib
emerge -1 opal

Cheers mate. I've applied the patch from your link to pwlib, reemerged pwlib and opal and that worked flawlessly. I don't know if I should change status to invalid, as it's opal/pwlib bug.. but I did.
